your experiment series
your experiment series was a set of three experiences given to a group of 20 art students.
1. your binocular experiment
a4 pieces of paper were rolled up and taped into tubes. each participant was given two tubes that were their binoculars. participants were in an outdoor roof environment. they interacted with their new way of vision creatively and wonderfully, looking close and far.
binoculars show a reduced visual field. this allows specific frames of the environment to be focused on.
remember! you always have binoculars with you. simply make tubes with your hands and hold them to your eyes.
2. your cinnamon bun experiment
raw materials that were all once plants were baked into human edible cinnamon buns. participants were asked to enjoy a bun and then interact with a piece of paper. the experiment explores processes and the transfer of energy.
vegetable butter, yeast, cardamon, oat milk
the artists, after eating the cinnamon bun, interacted with the piece of paper in different ways. the energy from the cinnamon bun would be used during this process of recording an act on the paper. participants drew, tore, wrote, sew, splashed with coffee, stuck, painted, folded, carried and felt their paper.
3. your white experiment
a room was created in the studio from long sheets of white paper that stretched from the ceiling to the floor. inside of the completely white small room was a chair and a bright light. partakers were asked to sit for three minutes while experiencing a completely white visual field. the space was kept silent during the experience.
