Ruohonainen

in 2024 ellenor rose nish studied at the arctic university of norway in tromsø as an exchange student. with her, in her travel bag, she carried the question of, ´how can i feel that i am a part of nature?´ the answer to this question was intended to then be shared with others, to help heal the planet from climate change. however, the layers of seperation from nature that we exist on was so strong, that ellenor felt like a robot.

the mythical being ruohonainen has a different answer to this question. Ruohonainen, (grass woman), is a mythical being with a head of grass and the body of a woman. by being still of nature, ruohonainen knows what it feels like to be part of nature. she remembers what it was like to be a grass. that was what she was before a star turned her into a woman with magic.

on december 5th 2024 at 5pm, the story of ruohonainen was told through dance and sound performance, in collaboration with Grisha Pankert.
